This Week's YA Highway Road Trip Topic:
What's your numero-uno reason for writing
My first gut reaction to this question is: "Because I have to." This is true. I don't have much choice.
But...because I can't seem to leave it at that...(Me? With a short and to-the-point Road Trip answer?)...I dug a little further, remembering the first few pages of my first rough draft. I was hooked...no doubt...knowing I wanted/needed to do this always, but I also knew something else...
I wanted to share. My ideas, my stories, and the characters I fall in love with. I wanted others to fall in love with them too. Still do.
So...maybe wanting to share is the main reason I have to write.
What about you? What is your numero-uno reason to write?
Well said- I want other people to know these amazing people in my head. Does that make me crazy?
ReplyDeleteYou'd think I write because I want to share, but I write for me first and foremost. The sharing just happens after.
ReplyDeleteAlicia- I've heard that from others and wish I could be more like that...writing for me first.
ReplyDelete:D I always say "I write for myself, I finish things for other people."
ReplyDeleteSharing's a great reason. All writers are readers, so we understand the pleasure a good book can give.
Communication. The desire to share ideas, feelings, emotions, thoughts with others. And stories are a great vehicle for this. Good answer.
ReplyDeleteThere's definitely a part of me that wants to share my stories with everyone else, to hear from a teen that my book made a difference in their life somehow. I think anyone who tries for publication feels this way, even if just a little bit. Otherwise, why publish and share with the world?
ReplyDeleteI want this too, but at the same time it scares the crap out of me. I guess I just need to become a better sharer lol :) Good reason to write!
ReplyDelete"I wanted others to fall in love with them too."
ReplyDeleteThat's me too.
I am a share-r, too. I think that's how my stories move from inside my head to the page--because I want other people to read them, in some format.
ReplyDeleteI do it because I love it--it's truly fun for me. I like your reason though. It's one I definitely never considered.
ReplyDeleteI love to create and I love stories. So I combined the two! :)
ReplyDeleteYep, our answers are totally matchy-matchy. Love how your mind works. :)
