Road Trip Wednesday

YA Highway's topic this week:
It's Groundhog Day! Pretend you're Bill Murray in the 1993 movie--
what book would you read over & over forever?

I'm going to risk the wrath of movie/TV/book lovers everywhere and admit that I'm not much of a re-watcher or a re-reader. I do enjoy M*A*S*H reruns, and have re-watched and reread a lot of Jane Austen.

But if I truly had to be stuck in Bill Murray's Groundhog Day world with only one book then I'd go the practical route and  pick Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's DreamSee full size image

It's  magical, has a happy ending, and with Shakespeare, there's always endless layers of prose to decipher.

What about you? What book would you like to keep repeating?

  1. I love the Princess Bride and a book series called the Keeping Days.

  2. Jane Austin = totally rereadable. But yes, a world where we could only read the same thing over and over again would be a little... insane.

  3. I'm not a big fan of the re-watch or re-read either. Midsummer is a good pick. If you're going to be stuck, Puck would be a fun companion.

  4. Midsummer is by far the funniest of Shakespeare's comedies. It's my favorite of his comedies. Great choice.

  5. Great choice! I bet that will give you plenty of opportunities to understand the story more and more.

I'm not a big re-watcher, either. Though when it comes to TV I'll watch Lost again. And for movies, I never get sick of The Princess Bride.

  6. What a great pick! That would definitely keep you engaged no matter how many times you read it.

  7. I love that movie, Groundhog's Day! Um, like you, I rarely read a book twice. I've done so less than a half-dozen times. I do re-watch movies, however. Like Groundhog's Day. ;o) I love the Keira Knightly/Matthew Mcfadyen of Pride and Prejudice, the movie. Sigh!

  8. Shakespeare! Now that's a radical choice. Nicely done.

  9. For over and over, I'd prefer the Collected Works of Shakespeare. Any one of them might get old after a while.

  10. I love to re-books. That's why I buy them.

I'm going to cheat and say I would re-read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. There's no way I could read just one of them. ;)

  11. I didn't think of Shakespeare! That's a perfect reread choice. You'd find something new every time!

Midsummers is definitely my favourite of Shakespeare's comedies. It's the one I use to convert people who tell me they don't like Shakespeare. It's impossible not to like Midsummers!

  12. I have to really love a book or movie to rewatch it. I do have some favorite romantic comedies that I do watch over again though.
