Latest Audiobook Love

Just a quick post today. I have a gingerbread house decorating party to get ready for (more on this Monday).

I finished THE SECRET DIARIES OF CHARLOTTE BRONTE, by Syrie James, last night and have to rave.

It's not YA (the protag is in her thrirties during the telling), but any teens (or adults) who love JANE EYRE will love this. Also, any writers, as this touches on our struggles.

There is enough tragedy to rival any struggling historical artist's life, but the ending is more hopeful love-life wise than the movies, Becoming Jane and Miss Potter.

Has anyone read this or seen Becoming Jane or Miss Potter? What did you think?

  1. I haven't read either BECOMING JANE or MISS POTTER. WUTHERING HEIGHTS is one of my top five books of all time, so I think I need to get my hands on a copy of this.

  2. I haven't heard of this one, but it looks great! Becoming Jane is one of my fave movies--I swoon over James McAvoy every time :)

  3. Rebecca- Emily Bronte's life is way more tragic than her sister's. WUTHERING HEIGHTS isn't one of my all-time favorites, but I have a greater appreciation for it and its author after reading this book.

Also, the movies I mentioned are fictional biographies of Jane Austen and Beatrix Potter's lives.

  4. Meredith- I loved Becoming Jane too. Did you know that her suitor (McAvoy's character) actually did name his first daughter Jane. The screenwriter came up with that idea then did the research and found out it was true.

  6. This sounds like an ideal audio book. I will definitely look out for it.
