My Space(s)

Summer is having a low-stress blogfest for those doing NaNo (and those of us who aren't, but are busy and in the middle of WIPs).

Now, for tax purposes, I may have to dedicate an area of my house to my writing someday, but for now, it happens wherever is most convenient. Like:

The couch with my laptop. Also the location of much ad browsing and bill paying.

The kitchen table with my laptop. Most recently used for a candy and caramel apple making party.

The home office. Where more blogging and research gets done than writing.

Finally, my office on the go. My monster-sized purse to fit my mini-notebook. Last seen at dance class, but it's also been used at basketball tryouts, parks, birthday parties and the like.

What about you? Where is the weirdest place you've ever written?

  1. I like your office! Also, I agree, writing happens everywhere (laptops are so handy!).

I wish I knew about your caramel apple making party! I want to make some...

  3. Aren't laptops the best? I even got the smaller version, the netbook, to take out with me as it's even lighter! Oh that chair looks so comfy!

  4. Nice to have choices. Weirdest place...not too weird, but I did write in the car, parked in the shade waiting for a job interview...calmed me right down!

  5. Weirdest place I've ever written? Probably on paper in McDonald's in Iowa City on a busy Saturday afternoon. lol

  6. Now that desk looks like mine! Organised chaos! :)

I've recently taken to writing on the commute to work, which really isn't that much time: 5min on the tram followed by a 10min bus ride, but I'm trying to cram in as much writing time as I can for NaNo!

  7. I love your space!!! Weirdes place I've ever written...hmmmm...most probably a supermarket receipt because I just had to write out an idea and I was sat in a cafe with my husband, reading, and I forgot my tiny notepad to write on!!! :) I also write when in bed sometimes :)

  8. That chair is epic! It looks so very comfy. Hmm, the weirdest place I've written? In the car at a stop sign because I had to write down an idea before I lost it. The car behind me really wasn't very happy :)

  9. Okay, big comfy chair, table with a candied apple, space desk with chair, and big awesome purse with laptop -- I'd say you're ready for take off for NaNo. Love it! :D

  10. I wrote in a bathroom once. I was at my mothers to help her host a baby shower and seeing as I hardly knew anyone (something about 20 or so silver haired ladies discussing knitting patterns, playing bottle bingo didn't seem very interesting) so I brought my laptop into the bathroom and plunked down on the closed lid for some peace and quiet. Eventually I got the usual calls: "Hey, did you fall in?" LOL

  11. Thanks for stopping by and sharing everyone.

I've never hidden in a bathroom during a party to write (great story, Nathalie), but I have scribbled notes at stop signs before, much to other drivers' delight, I'm sure.

I love spiral-bound index cards for writing on the go. I have them everywhere in the house and take them in my car and purse. You can leave them open to the next blank page, and a retractable pen fits perfectly in the spiral...always ready.

  15. Thanks for sharing. My desk is actually in my (very small) front foyer, directly across from the coat closet. It's pushed up against the mirror and a window. Cozy, very cozy.
